I am using WMC to browse my music collection, and I am really enjoying the experience.
However, as in every product there are a few things I miss from other music players I am familiar with (mainly media monkey and winamp).
I have a short list of suggestions/ comments/ questions about components I really miss in WMC
Native FLAC support: I have donwloaded the FLAC codec, and the FLAC ****data support plugin. However, since FLAC is not a native code in WMP/WMC the song duration, and the ability to skip through the song are missing.
Any idea of why Microsoft is ignoring FLAC? Will it be incorporated in the future as native codecs as they did with m4a? We are so many using FLAC as prefered file type...
Playlist/Filters: we all know the music collections now a day are ridicously big. Sorting that information out has become crucial. What I find annoying in WMC playlists, is that they just show a big list of songs in each playlist, but you cannot sort the playlist songs by artists for example. So, if I create a playlist called "FLAC files", and I have 30 FLAC albums, this will create a playlist of 300 songs, which is completely useless to me.
Why not doing like other players, a filter of playlist that just splits the library, and then you can sort the playlist further using album, artist...
Equalizer E/Q: an equalizer plugin in WMC will definetely be very useful. Even in WMP 12 has been hidden further, and now you have to go to the mini player to find it... Why? An EQ is a very important component for serious music listeners.
